CHF Module 4
Module 4 provides the essential learning material needed to successfully diagnose and manage patients with heart failure. It contains:
- A comprehensive, interactive decision algorithm for dealing with the patient in acute or chronic heart failure. In addition, the algorithm branches for the patient cases from Module 1 can be compared to the full algorithm.
- A management section with an extensive reference list and description of the drugs currently used in the treatment of heart failure, organized by drug class
- A discussion of how lifestyle modification and surgical approaches, including cardiac transplantation, can benefit the heart failure patient.
- Information on the predictors of survival, including two video clips on exercise capacity.
- A challenging simulated teaching case in which you can apply the knowledge you learned in the program by serving as a teleconsultant to a doctor in rural Alaska who is puzzling over the diagnosis and management of a patient in acute heart failure. This section contains an animation of a right heart catheterization and a video of transplant surgery.
